Should Tottenham Buy This AS Roma Star To Replace Christian Eriksen

Antonio Sanabria 1

Tottenham have been on the lookout for an attacker who can provide some sort of cover to Harry Kane next season and if rumours are to be believed Antonio Sanabria is the latest player that has already been signed by Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the opening game of the season.

Sanabria is an AS Roma player and it seems that the Serie A side are trying to bring in Christian Eriksen in the deal or the Dane is being linked with a move away from the club. Eriksen was one of the best players in the Spurs side last season and it isn’t a surprise that many other clubs are vying for the signature of the Dane.

Sanabria is just 20-years-old and has been linked with a move back to Barcelona, he was a Barca B team member but couldn’t break into the first team and was sold to Sassuolo in 2014 but just six months after joining the Serie A side, he was sold to AS Roma, who then sent him out on loan to Sporting Gijon.

The 20-year-old striker starred for Gijon last season and even scored 11 goals in La Liga, which is not a bad return for someone who finally got to play regular football for his team. Sanabria is known for his dribbling ability and also his heading ability, the fact that he would be an inexpensive signing to give Kane cover does seem to be a great option for the London club but that should not come at the price of losing one of the best players in the league last season.

Eriksen has been on the radars of many clubs and simply losing him does not really make a lot of sense, especially when Spurs do not have that much quality in their team. Losing out on Eriksen is a no brainer and the fact that Sanabria does not play in the same position, also makes it rather weird to lose out on the Dane to any sum of money.

Of course, if a ludicrous amount does come in, Tottenham could think about selling Eriksen and bringing someone with the similar quality in but if the side are to have any great ambitions, they need to keep a hold of their best players and not let them go on the cheap. Sanabria could just turn out to be the hit that Tottenham need and with age and a hint of quality on his side, who knows what he can achieve next season for Spurs.
