Tottenham beating Real Madrid to land this La Liga hotshot would be a step in the right direction by Pochettino

Tottenham opinion: Should Spurs sign Giovani Lo Celso?

According to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are among a number of clubs interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The midfielder is currently on loan at La Liga side Real Betis for whom he has been outstanding this season.

Spurs will be rivalled by three of Europe’s biggest names in Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan for the signature of the youngster but the report reveals that Betis have an option to buy him in the summer.

However, the report says that Betis would be willing to buy Lo Celso from PSG in the summer and immediately sell him on for a bigger fee. Tottenham should swoop in ahead of the player’s other suitors in the summer and he would be a brilliant signing.

After a tough few games over the last two months, Spurs look to have found their form again and are currently 3rd in the table with a game in hand over 4th-placed Chelsea.

Champions League qualification will be of massive importance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in order to attract the best players in the summer. Giovani Lo Celso has been one of the best players in the La Liga this season and he would be a gem of a signing for Spurs.

Since his arrival from the French capital in the summer, Lo Celso has missed just 3 games in the league all season. In his 26 games for Betis this season, the Argentine has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in the La Liga so far.

10 direct goal contributions in 21 starts is a phenomenal number for a player who has played most of his games in the number 8 position.

The 23-year-old has played a huge part in Betis’ bid to finish in the top half of the league table and his potential departure would be a difficult pill to swallow in the summer.

However, at 23 years of age, it is the right time for Lo Celso to take a bigger step in his career and a move to the Premier League is as big as it could get at this stage.
