Fantastic Jon Toral: The Best And The Worst Rated Rangers Players Vs Partick Thistle

Rangers

Full Time: Rangers 2-0 Partick Thistle

Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers secured all three points today with a solid performance against Partick Thistle.

After a period of sustained pressure, Rangers finally went ahead when Kenny Miller got on the end of a cross from James Tavernier, to head home in the 39th minute. Midfielder Jon Toral doubled their advantage in the second period after a fine one-two exchange with Emerson Hyndman.

Thistle put up a good fight and took the game to the Gers when they could, but it turned out to be a deserved win ahead of the all-important clashe with Celtic in the coming week. Rangers continue to stay at 3rd place in the standings, with second-placed Aberdeen maintaining the 9-point gap, with a win in their fixture. Here is how the Rangers players fared on the day:

Rangers Player Ratings:

Wes Foderingham – 6/10

Had very little to do against Partick. But stood up when his team needed him to keep his 12th clean sheet of the season.

James Tavernier – 7.5/10

A constant threat down the right-hand side. Showed his pace and excellent crossing skills to set up Miller for the opener.

David Bates – 6/10

Had a few nervy moments at the back, but the youngster did not let it affect him and helped his team keep three shutouts in three games.

Danny Wilson – 6/10

The centre-half was a solid presence at the back for the Gers. Came so close to scoring, with a close-range header that was kept out by the Partick goalkeeper, Cerny.

Myles Beerman – 7/10

An extremely confident display from the youngster. Did a fine job going forward in the absence of Lee Wallace and had a go at the goal from distance on a couple occasions. However, the defensive side of the game needs improvement.

Jason Holt – 7/10

Another impressive performance in the middle of the park from Holt. Ran hard, closed down opponents, helped his team regain the ball and played some dangerous looking balls as well.

Jon Toral – 9/10

The loanee was the standout performer for the Gers. Kept his team ticking in the midfield and also played some threatening balls upfield. Linked up beautifully with fellow loanee Hyndman to score the second goal.

Martyn Waghorn – 5/10

Looked out of tune with the rest of the team and as a result he struggled to have any sort of effect on the game before being replaced.

Emerson Hyndman – 8.5/10

A class apart from the rest of the players on the pitch. Hyndman pulled the strings beautifully and proved to be too hard to deal with for the Partick defence. Did very well to set up the second for Toral.

Barry McKay – 4/10

Some poor touches that put his team under pressure in the first period. Looked off touch and was rightly taken off at half time.

Kenny Miller – 7/10

Headed Tavernier’s cross to open the scoring for Rangers. It was a strong performance up front from the veteran forward.

Substitutes

Joseph Dodoo – 6/10

Came on for McKay at half-time. Got forward well, had a go at goal on a couple of occasions. Nothing spectacular.

Joe Garner – NA

Replaced Waghorn in the game with less than 15 minutes to play.

Andy Halliday – NA

Replaced Toral in the 84th minute.
