Burnley v Liverpool Report: Liverpool Match Report

Liverpool continued their excellent start to the season by breezing hapless Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor to go into the first international break of this season as Premier League’s table-toppers.

A Chris Wood own goal, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were the scorers for the Reds, who were comfortable from the first minute of this game and cruised past their inefficient opponents.

Burnley had one chance very early on in the game when Wood got in behind Virgil van Dijk, but his effort was tame that got parried away by Adrian.

Since then, it was all Liverpool as they hit the bar through Mohamed Salah in the seventh minute, before taking a fluke lead just after the half-hour mark, when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross got a deflection of Wood and ballooned into the back of the net.

Mane made it two before half-time, after Ben Mee handed possession to Firmino in a dangerous position. The latter then ran at the Burnley defence before assisting a goal for the aforementioned scorer.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had chances to command their superiority of this game, but Salah’s decision-making in the second half was off radar, which didn’t help the cause.

Eventually, the game was put to bed in the 80th minute, when a miscontrolled Salah dribble fell into the path of Firmino, who sweeped his finish past Nick Pope.

By doing that, Liverpool’s forward became the first Brazilian to score 50 goals in English football.

All in all, a comfortable evening’s work for the Reds, who continue their winning start to the season and look very good.

Here’s how their fans reacted after the game:
