Emre Can:
Liverpool face a difficult campaign with star striker Luis Suarez leaving the club to harbor dreams at La Liga giants Barcelona. The Reds have spent a significant cash in the transfer market from their sizeable transfer kitty and manager Brendan Rodgers has vowed to carry on spending as they look to go a step closer to the Premier League title. However, it’s easier said than done with the Merseyside outfit having to take care of the Champions League apart from domestic competitions for which they need a large squad rather than having a wafer thin bench strength. Emre Can has been brought in from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen with Lucas Leiva almost certain to leave the club and join Napoli.
Can is expected to play the defensive midfield role to perfection, screening the back four and also break down opposition attacks to help Steven Gerrard play in a more creating and advanced role than what he did last season. Can needs to settle quickly and with Joe Allen not living up to expectations, the young German will be key to Liverpool’s defensive discipline this season.
