Top-class Lacazette, Poor Ozil – The best & the worst rated Arsenal stars in the 2-0 win vs Everton

Arsenal Player Ratings vs Everton: Here’s how the Gunners fared

Arsenal continued their good fortune against Everton by picking up a 2-0 win against the Toffees. The Gunners made a nervy start to the game and endured a largely frustrating first half that often saw the Toffees threaten on the counter.

But Unai Emery’s men once again found the net through the in-form Alexandre Lacazette who scored a sublime goal to give Arsenal the lead. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang then continued his fine run of form by notching up the second, although the Gabon international did seem to be in an offside position.

The Gunners, nevertheless, saw out the game and ensured the clean sheet. Special praise to Petr Cech who made a number of fine saves to keep the Toffees at bay.

Arsenal Player Ratings

Petr Cech (9/10)

Kept a clean sheet on the night and made a number of match-winning saves. Everton will probably be wondering how they failed to find the back of the net.

Hector Bellerin (7/10)

Bellerin marauded up and down the field but was unable to largely influence the game given that Richarlison kept him busy at the back. The Brazilian did trouble Bellerin at times.

Shkodran Mustafi (7/10)

One of his better performances, Mustafi was defensively astute and committed to almost everything. He made a couple of important tackles to keep Arsenal in the lead.

Sokratis (6/10)

Was taken off due to an injury but Sokratis made a strong start to the game.

Nacho Monreal (7/10)

Looked good going forward and ensured Theo Walcott wasn’t given much freedom down the flank. A good performance from the Spaniard.

Lucas Torreira (6/10)

Was lucky not to be sent off after a couple of clumsy challenges and a yellow. But Torreira was always willing to track back and looked better in the second half.

Granit Xhaka (7/10)

Xhaka was bright against the Toffees. His incisive passing was a massive asset for the Gunners on the night.

Mesut Ozil (5/10)

Poor game from the German. Ozil didn’t really offer anything going forward and failed to make an impact.

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil

Aaron Ramsey (6/10)

The Welshman endured a mediocre first half but looked much better in the second. He assisted twice.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (7/10)

Once again, Aubameyang delivered, as he continued his fine run of form in front of the goal. The Gabon international’s constant switch of positions caused all sorts of problems for Everton.

Alexandre Lacazette (8/10)

Lacazette scored a superb goal and looked focused throughout the game. He was also very impressive with his pressing and stole the ball on a couple of occasions.

Substitutes

Rob Holding (6/10)

Holding looked slightly off the pace after coming on but he did well defensively in the absence of Sokratis.

Alex Iwobi (7/10)

Iwobi came on and showed intensity in the final third. His fresh legs and pace were very hard for the Everton defenders to deal with.

Danny Welbeck (5/10)

Welbeck was not able to offer much going forward as Everton threatened in the final moments of the game.
