Top-class Forrest, Solid Benkovic – Here’s how the Celtic stars fared in the 5-0 win vs Hearts

Celtic Player Ratings vs Hearts: Here’s how the Bhoys fared

Odsonne Edouard bagged a brace as Celtic smashed Hearts 5-0 to move within one point of the table-toppers.

On-loan defender Filip Benkovic scored his first Hoops goal in the 26th minute with a bullet header which sandwiched the Edouard double strike that gave the Hoops an unassailable 3-0 lead at half-time.

There were further goals from James Forrest and Ryan Christie after the interval as Hearts crashed to their second heaviest defeat against Celtic in less than a week.

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon – 6/10

Gordon had a comfortable outing as he was barely tested by Hearts.

Mikael Lustig – 5/10

Lustig was decent at right-back as Hearts attacked very little. It was an easy outing for the Swedish defender.

Filip Benkovic – 8/10

Scored his first goal in Celtic colours as he headed home from Callum McGregor’s corner. Benkovic was a pillar at the back and he kept the Hearts attackers at bay.

Dedryck Boyata – 7/10

Strong in the tackle and composed with his distribution, Boyata had a good game alongside Benkovic in central defence.

Kieran Tierney – 8/10

Tierney was a bundle of energy on the left. Made endless runs down the left channel, put crosses into the box and set it up beautifully for Edouard’s second goal.

Callum McGregor – 8/10

Dictated the pace of the game with his distribution skills. Kept things simple in the middle of the park and it was his corner through which Benkovic powered home the header.

Ryan Christie – 8/10

Christie was a menace for the Hearts defenders and he tested the goalkeeper with a couple of shots. Earned his reward for working tirelessly, as he converted a spot-kick to ice Celtic’s cake in the 89th minute.

James Forrest – 8/10

Continued his rollicking form by making it 4-0 with a right-footed strike to the bottom right corner after the break. He also drew the penalty late in the game which was slotted home by Christie. A top performance from Forrest.

Tom Rogic – 7/10

Rogic linked the play between the midfield and the attack. His presence in the No.10 role was crucial as Celtic cruised to a 5-0 victory over Hearts.

Scott Sinclair – 7/10

A lively presence on the left flank. Sinclair played a part in Edouard’s opener and came close to scoring as well. A positive performance from him.

Odsonne Edouard – 9/10

Scored twice in the first half. The Frenchman opened the scoring with a powerful drive from outside the box before doubling his tally from close range. Edouard also set up Forrest to make it 4-0 just over the hour mark before being replaced by youngster Michael Johnston.

Substitutes

Kristoffer Ajer – 5/10

Ajer replaced Lustig and kept things tight at the back.
