Top 5 Quotes & Moments Of Arsenal’s Forgotten Man Nicklas Bendtner And Burnley’s Transfer Target

The Danish striker is most famous for his entertaining quotes about his ability and his off-field antiques. Bendtner has always been the butt of all jokes in the internet and has had controversial as well as some really unbelievable footballing moments as well. Here we present to you, the top five moments of Nicklas Bendtner who has been released by Arsenal. The 26, year old striker has been rumored to be a transfer target of several club including Championship club Burnley and Russian side Rubin Kazan

5. Bendtner: I am one of the best

In 2011, Bendtner famously scored 10 out of 9 in a confidence test conducted at Arsenal! In the category of “self-perceived competence” i.e how high does the player rates himself, Bendtner scored off the scale in a remarkably hilarious situation that is very rare in any psychological test.

Following the test, Bendtner released a gem of a quote, “If you ask me if I am one of the best strikers in the world, I’d say ‘yes’ because I believe it.” According to the report it was pretty much established that Bendtner genuinely believes in him and can prove to have an amazing recovery from set-backs.

 4. Bendtner: I’d like to play in Real Madrid or Barcelona

Last winter, he was asked about his future especially since he was unhappy at Arsenal. He responded by saying “I’m going somewhere where I know I can be happy to play. With a team where I can score goals and preferably to win something. I do not want to sit on the bench and staring. I love playing lots of games.” When asked which clubs would be able to offer him that, he responded: “Real Madrid and Barcelona”.

This was one of the highlights of the November-December internet memes last year!

3. Hattrick against Porto, March 2010 (09-10 UCL season)

Porto came with a lead of two goals for this game and Arsenal needed to overturn the deficit to go through to the nest round. Arsenal ran away 5-0 winners at Emirates with an hattrick from the most unlikely of all players, Bendtner, especially as he was criticized in the matches before for his poor form.

Bendtner scored two poacher’s goals and a penalty to grab his hattrick and one of his most memorable moments in an Arsenal shirt.

 2. Goal against Cardiff City, January 2014 (13-14 EPL Season)

Nicklas Bendtner scored Arsenal’s first goal of the new year  on new year’s day itself and very late into the match against a Cardiff side that was making it extremely tough for the Gunners to break in. In an absolute dearth of space, Bendter again showcased his poaching abilities as he swung his leg at the ball which landed on his feet, from very close range. Bendter’s goal in the 88th minute opened up the game for the Gunners and they got an important win as Walcott added the icing to the cake with his goal. This victory was crucial for their title challenge at that time.

Unfortunately, he injured himself in the process and was again a regular feature in the internet trolls. “The Lord injures himself to save his opponents!”

1.Goal against Tottenham (December 2007, 07-08 EPL Season)

Bendtner famously scored the winner against arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur within two seconds of entering the game as a substitute. The goal was a well taken header from a corner delivered by Spanish play maker Cesc Fabregas. This has to be his best ever moment in an Arsenal shirt, especially because it meant a lot for the fans to beat their derby rivals and it was also his first goal.
