The fans are like a twelfth player on the pitch, and their energy is a huge part of Liverpool’s success. So, let’s jump into the world of these passionate fans, also known as Kopites, and hear the top 5 chants that have become their favorites.

4) Allez, Allez, Allez….

Lyrics: We’ve conquered all of Europe, We’re never going to stop

From Paris down to Turkey, We’ve won the fu***** lot

Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly, The Fields of Anfield Road

We are loyal supporters, And we come from Liverpool

Allez, Allez, Allez * 4

The king of all Liverpool chants is the booming “Allez Allez Allez.” Forget a fancy composer, this chant was born from the Anfield crowd itself in 2018. Back then, the Reds were on fire, tearing through Europe in the Champions League and reaching the final for the first time in over a decade. Though they fell short of the trophy, the chant stuck. Now, “Allez Allez Allez” rings out whenever Liverpool fans celebrate a victory or a big moment for the club. It’s become a powerful symbol of their recent revival.

3) Fields of Anfield road

Lyrics: Outside the Shankly gates, I heard a Kopite calling

Shankly, they have taken you away, But you left a great 11

Before you went to Heaven, Now it’s glory ’round the fields of Anfield road

All ’round the fields of Anfield road, Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and he could play)

Steve Heighway on the wing, We had dreams and songs to sing, Of the glory ’round the fields of Anfield road

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Kopite mourning

Why so many taken on that day?, Justice has never been done

But their memory will carry on, There’ll be glory around the Fields of Anfield Road

The Fields of Anfield road is an adaptation of the The Fields of Atherny song composed by Pete St. John in 1979. Even though the melody resembles of the Field of Atherny, the Lyrics are all about Liverpool history and stadium. The lyrics was initially adopted by a Liverpool fan, Edward R Williams. Soon it gained widespread attention from fans and eventually become the prestigious chant among the Kopites.

Jurgen said to me, you know. We’ll win the Premier League, you know. He said so.

I’m in love with him and I feel fine.

I’m so glad that Jurgen is a Red.

1)You never walk alone

Lyrics: When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high

And don’t be afraid of the dark, At the end of a storm

There’s a golden sky, And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain

For your dreams be tossed and blown, Walk on, walk on

With hope in your heart, And you’ll never walk alone

You never walk alone is a slogan and on top of it a anthem for the Kopites. You Never Walk Alone is the famous chant sung for the very first time in 1965, FA Cup final. The famous song was first written by Oscar Hammerstein II and composed by Richard Rodgers. Later in 1963 Gerry and the Pacemakers released the UK version. The version was soon presented to the Liverpool manager Bill Shankly who was left “in an awe”. Soon “You never walk alone” was named as the new club song.

The vocal prowess of the Liverpool fans are extend beyond these 5 wonderful chant. There are many creative chants in the past and some that will be emerging in the following years will keep the Anfield unmatched.
