Louis Van Gaal
Louis Van Gaal

With Louis Van Gaal taking charge of Manchester United next season, there is a sense of optimism in the air at Old Trafford that the nightmares of last season will be forgotten with a stellar campaign this season. While most Manchester United fans are still reeling from the club’s worst finish in over two decades, there is still a section who expects overnight miracles now that Louis Van Gaal is in charge. While it would be too early to say whether Manchester United has a realistic shot at the Premier League title next season, but in any case we here at Soccersouls decided to list the five fixtures that will make or break their season next year after the FA released its official fixtures list for the 2014/15 season.

Manchester United Vs Chelsea (25/10/2014):

This is the first tough fixture for the Red Devils after having a relatively easy start to the season. A clash between two managers, who are proven winners, known for their attitude and ego both on and off the pitch. If Manchester United can get off to a good start, which is a good possibility given the fixture list, then a win in this match can either be a great morale boost or a loss can be potentially devastating following a good set of results.

Manchester City Vs Manchester United (1/11/2014):

Another big match right after the Chelsea match at Old Trafford. An away match to the city rivals who are also the Premier League champion will be no fun but this will be another test of Louis Van Gaal’s team. If Manchester United face back to back defeats in this game and the one against Chelsea, then it could have crippling effects for the rest of the season. On the other hand a respectable result will go a long way towards making the Manchester United players and fans believing again.

Liverpool Vs Manchester United (21/03/2015):

If Manchester United are still in the title race or even in the race for Champions League places, then this match promises to provide us with all the intrigue we want. A Liverpool Vs Manchester United clash is always hearts on the sleeve kind of moment and if there is anything to play for both clubs, then a victory will be extremely important for the Manchester club.

Everton Vs Manchester United (25/04/2015):

Manchester United has not performed well against Everton at Goodison Park in recent memory. However, this time around this fixture has been placed at the fag end of the season and Manchester United will try to better their recent record against Everton. This match is literally in the final laps of the season and a win might just prove to be very crucial here.

Manchester United Vs Arsenal (16/05/2015):

The penultimate game of the season and what a game, it might turn out to be. This one has the potential to be a title decider (albeit a bit unlikely) and what better than an Arsenal Vs Manchester United game on the penultimate day of the season. Title decider or not this match will be the last important match of the season for Manchester United and the Red Devils would like to end the campaign on a high.
