Booooos and Whistles! – Four Players Who Are Hated By Their Own Fans

The world of football is relenting and frustrating for football fans, players and everyone involved. The support for clubs that fans have often sees them take drastic steps and it is not too rare to see them turn against players who let their clubs down, time and again.

There are a number of clubs with fans who hate a player or two in their side but some fans, sometimes, cross the line. It should not come as a surprise that every club has players who their fans hate but what happens when it crosses the line? Here are four such players who have felt the wrath of the fans that do not like them playing for their club.

Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

The Croatian defender joined Liverpool from Southampton more than two years ago but is yet to convince even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans. Never too far away from a mistake, the 28-year old has time and again let the club down. Though he is slowly improving, Liverpool fans want their club to use a different combination at the back. He is a naturally error prone defender and might not be able to help his side to a league title.

Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United)

The Belgian international is a utility player who is tailor-made for the tactics Jose Mourinho loves to use at Old Trafford. He can be called upon when United need to win a game, as the manager can use the Belgian’s physical approach up front. He is also subbed in when the Red Devils need to see off a game, using his aggression in front of the backline. However, he is just not good enough to start for a club of United’s stature and many United fans believe that he does not belong at the club.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

The Welsh winger joined Los Blancos a long time ago but is yet to win over the fans at Bernabeu. He made the mistake of saying that he wants to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the talisman of the side and that did not go well for him, with Real fans attacking his car with stones after an El Classico defeat. Provided the Spanish fans are too demanding, Bale is not going to win them over any time soon.

Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

The Spaniard joined Chelsea from Barcelona but the fact that he used to play for North London rivals Arsenal seems to have stuck in the heads of the Chelsea fans. Fabregas has already helped Chelsea to two league titles but he rarely gets the appreciation he deserves from the Blues fans. He is easily one of the best play makers in the world even today but not many Chelsea fans will feel bad if he quits the club any time soon.
