Three Free Scoring Strikers Burnley Must Make A Move For In The January Window

Burnley have enjoyed a sensational start to the 2017/18 Premier League season and are also one of the favourites to seal a top-six finish by the end of the season. Despite a lot of people writing them off initially, the Clarets fought on under Sean Dyche’s watchful eyes and have made a meteoric rise to the top half of the table. Sitting at 7th position right now, Burnley are 3 points behind 6th-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Although they were a part of the top six for a good majority of the season, their power has diminished a bit of late due to the lack of a lethal goalscoring player up front. To ensure they finish as strongly as they started, Burnley will need to sign a striker in the January window. They did sign Chris Wood over the summer but he has been underwhelming on certain occasions. Hence, here are 3 free-scoring strikers Burnley must target in the ongoing winter window.

Danny Ings – Liverpool

Ings joined the Merseyside club in 2015 but has struggled for game time ever since. A slew of injuries severely stunted his growth and although he is edging closer to being fully fit now, it will be very tough for him to break into the first-team with the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino making their presence known. However, he does not lack talent and was widely successful during his time at Turf Moor and he could make a return to support his former club.

Florin Andone – Deportivo La Coruna

Andone was linked with Burnley earlier but they could renew their interest in him once more. He has displayed a natural ability to score goals and find the back of the net, thus making him an option worth considering. Also, he boasts of a good pace and his speed could provide greater dimension to the club’s attack.

This season, he has made only 13 appearances for Deportivo, out of which 7 have been as a substitute. Since he seems to be struggling for game time, a move to Burnley could benefit the player, after having scored 3 goals and registering 2 assists so far this term.

Oumar Niasse – Everton

Despite being iced out of the squad for quite some time, Niasse has made his presence felt at Goodison Park this term. The Toffees are lacking a striker ever since Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United and Niasse has done some good work along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the front.

However, he is still understood to be keen on an exit to secure more time on the pitch and he could be available to join Burnley. He displayed sensational goalscoring skills with Hull City while on loan and could muster the same magic at Turf Moor as well.
