Toni Kroos and Luka Modric expected to start – Strongest 4-3-3 Real Madrid XI to face PSG

Real Madrid bounced back to winning ways with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice in the 3-1 win over 10-man Getafe on Saturday in the La Liga.

Real could have added more to their tally and although they missed a number of chances, it did not end up costing them.

The win over Getafe was the perfect warm-up ahead of the second-leg in the Champions League round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain, which Los Blancos are leading 3-1 from the first leg.

Team News

There was some good news for Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid as midfielders Toni Kroos and Luka Modric returned to full training on Sunday.

Both have been sidelined for three weeks, Modric with a thigh strain and Kroos with a knee sprain suffered in the first leg at Bernabeu.

Young defender Jesus Vallejo could miss out against PSG; otherwise, Zidane will have a fully-fit squad.

Probable Real Madrid XI

Manager: Zinedine Zidane

Formation: 4-3-3

Keylor Navas (GK)

Navas is likely to start and he would be keen to keep a clean-sheet at PSG having conceded on Saturday against Getafe.

Dani Carvajal (RB)

Carvajal has been impressive in bits and pieces this season and he is likely to start for the side on Tuesday.

Sergio Ramos (CB)

Ramos will have a task cut out against Cavani. He will be hoping to inspire his side on Tuesday.

Sergio Ramos

Raphael Varane (CB)

Varane was rested for Sunday’s game and that will see the French international fully charged up for the second-leg at PSG.

Marcelo (LB)

Marcelo will be a threat to the opposition on the left. His buccaneering runs are a treat to watch and PSG needs to be wary of it.

Casemiro (CDM)

Casemiro will be tasked to do the donkey work, break the play with his tackling and provide a perfect base for the attackers to express themselves freely.

Luka Modric (LCM)

Having returned to training on Sunday, Modric will have to play the anchor role. He is expected to sit a bit deep and help Madrid set up counter-attacks with his creative passes.

Luka Modric

Toni Kroos (RCM)

Just like Modric, Kroos will have a huge role to play in this game. He is Real’s midfield dictator and Zidane will expect the German to be at his sublime best.

Cristiano Ronaldo (LW)

Ronaldo reached yet another landmark in his career, with his first strike against Getafe taking him to 300 La Liga career goals. He is a superstar when it comes to Champions League and will be highly pumped against PSG.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Gareth Bale (RW)

Bale scored against Getafe and will look to be at his influential best and get on the score-sheet again on Tuesday.

Karim Benzema (ST)

Benzema has been hit-and-miss this campaign and the Frenchman will look to influence attacks in the second leg at Parc des Princes.
