Watford opinion: Should the Hornets let Roberto Pereyra go?

Italian news outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that AC Milan has entered the race for Watford star Roberto Pereyra. The Rossoneri need reinforcements and believe that the 28-year-old has the ability to flourish for them.

Milan are losing two players in the summer, with Riccardo Montolivo and Andrea Bertolacci (Sempremilan) likely to leave for free.

This leaves a spot open for Roberto Pereyra to walk into and is a move that Watford should seriously consider. The Argentine has been brilliant for the Hornets since his £10.4m move from Juventus.

The 28-year-old started the season brightly, scoring five goals in his opening ten games.

But he has only managed to add one more to his tally, often disappearing from games. This has affected their league form, with manager Javi Gracia often having to rely on goals from elsewhere.

Recently, the goals have come from a combined effort from the likes of Troy Deeney, Gerard Deulofeu and Abdoulaye Doucoure. It shows that it’s time for Watford to move on and allow other players to flourish.

The likes of Ken Sema, Isaac Success and even Domingos Quina have all shown potential but not had enough opportunities. This has affected Watford and they need to start giving their youngsters a chance.

While Pereyra has done well for the club, times are changing and it’s time for Watford to move on. The Hornets have shown the ability to punch above their weight this season but they need more to move ahead.

At the moment, they sit in 10th place but are only one point behind seventh-place Leicester City. The Hornets have a great chance of achieving a Europa league spot but need to ensure that they perform consistently.

Conclusion

Watford need to reinvigorate their team and letting Roberto Pereyra will allow them to get the funds to do exactly that.

Furthermore, it will allow the club to see just how well the youngsters can play and whether or not they can be viable options for the future.
