Three ideal destinations for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Toby Alderweireld

According to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur will consider offers for three of their players this summer, including centre-back Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian’s contract will run until the end of next season. There is an option to extend it until 2020, which will subsequently trigger a release clause of £25m.

Alderweireld is a quality defender who has the attributes to make any team better. The 29-year-old had a fantastic World Cup with Belgium to further enhance his prominence. He is one of those modern centre-backs who are adept at making forward passes and release the pressure from his back line. The Belgian is also good at defending, making him a complete player.

Now, with Spurs looking to consider offers for him, here are three clubs the £75,000-a-week defender could join and make a telling difference:

Manchester United

United have been linked with the Belgian (h/t Manchester Evening News), and Mourinho will benefit from having a defender of his quality. The 29-year-old is tenacious in nature and his tackling robustness, along with aerial prowess, makes him exactly the kind of defender that the Manchester United manager needs.

Playing for a big club like United should appeal to him and given his skills, he could make a world of difference for them.

Chelsea

Under Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea’s defensive line will be quite high when compared to what his predecessors had. With Gary Cahill ageing and Andreas Christensen not experienced enough yet, the Italian must sign a centre-back who can make recovery runs when caught in a high-line.

Toby Alderweireld

Alderweireld will fit the system because of his sumptuous passing abilities and his experience of playing in a high defensive line system under Mauricio Pochettino.

Paris Saint-Germain

Under new manager Thomas Tuchel, PSG will also play with a high defensive line which will suit the way Alderweireld plays generally. The Belgian can also prosper playing in a talented team as the French champions.

Alderweireld is an experienced defender and at the age of 29, he must aim to win big things with a new club. Moving to Paris will assure his progress in terms of trophy-winning as PSG are more or less dominant in their domestic league and cup competitions.
