Three young alternatives to David de Gea for Manchester United

It is just a matter of time before David de Gea leaves Manchester United and joins Real Madrid, the Spanish goalkeeper has been stalked by Madrid for a long time and he could make the switch by the end of this transfer window or next season, depending on how hard Manchester United play with the Spanish club.

De Gea was an Atletico Madrid player before he signed for Manchester United and it might seem a little strange seeing him go on to play for Atletico’s rivals Real Madrid, Manchester United have their own problems to deal with. Victor Valdes seems to be frozen out of the team and Sergio Romero isn’t the best choice to play every game of the season.

United would probably move for another goalkeeper sometime soon and we provide a list of three goalkeepers who are supremely talented, young and could be the next big thing for Manchester United.

Anthony Lopes

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and while the Frenchman would be a great signing for the Red Devils, they could swoop in for another goalkeeper who has his roots firmly in Lyon. Anthony Lopes has been the mainstay at Lyon for the past couple of seasons and is now a Portugal first team player. His excellent ability to control his defence has made him one of the top goalkeepers in Ligue 1 and at only 24-years-old, he has a lot of time to grow and get better.

Bernd Leno

One of the youngest goalkeepers to have played in the UEFA Champions League, Bernd Leno seems to be a veteran in the Bundesliga. A product from the youth team of Bayer Leverkusen, Leno has been one of the best goalkeepers in the league for a few years and seems to be getting better as the seasons go by. He is only 23 at the moment and could cost United a bundle but he will come good at the club.

Jan Oblak

Manchester United could have a look at De Gea’s old club for the answer to their goalkeeping conundrum. Atletico have a habit of unearthing talent, Aguero, Falcao, Torres, De Gea and Courtois have all done brilliantly for them there and they seem to have caught hold of another top rated goalkeeper. The Slovenian, Oblak is only 22-years-old but he has become a first teamer at the Madrid club. He might have just risen to the high ranks at Atletico but that shouldn’t take away the fact that he is a top goalkeeper, who still needs a bit of work but he has time on his side.
