Three Things Pochettino Needs To Do Asap To Solve Tottenham’s Mini Crisis

Coming from a great previous season, Tottenham started this one with high expectations as they were seen like one of the favourite teams to win the Premier League this year. Unfortunately for them, their season hasn’t been the best one and even despite the great start they had, Tottenham has decreased its level in the past fixtures.

After they finished 3rd in the past Premier League season, Tottenham wanted to improve this spot and win the League after decades but seeing their performances until now, it will be a very difficult journey for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Pochettino has improved the level of the teams since he landed at White Hart Lane a couple of seasons ago, and that last season seemed like the one to finally make a statement in England, but we all know what happened with the surprising champion, Leicester City.

They appeared like a team to be afraid of during the first eight Premier League fixtures, but after that, they have been struggling to reach victories and display a good game in the process.

Playing in Premier League, domestic cups and having the addition of Champions League this year, Pochettino and his staff knew this wasn’t going to be an easy job, but it seems like they didn’t get ready to face the challenges of the season.

Sadly for Pochettino and his boys, they were eliminated from Champions League last week, and, if they cannot make it to the Europa League, Tottenham must focus their hopes in the Premier Leagues, but first, they need to change and solve three things before becoming a contender team again.

They need to purchase better players-

Tottenham had a great team last season, but everybody knew it wasn’t going to be enough to play in all the competitions. They bought players, but these players haven’t shown the level that Pochettino and Spurs supporters expect from them. They bought players like Wanyama, Janssen and Moussa Sissoko, but so far this season, none of them has made a real impact in Tottenham’s performances.

The biggest problems for Spurs are related to its midfield and attack zone, and seeing the lack of scoring and goal opportunities, it is very clear that those players haven’t been in their best shape for the North London side. Facing the winter transfer window, Tottenham should try to acquire players who actually can help the team.

Pochettino needs to strengthen the mind of his players-

We could see an example of the lack of concentration from Pochettino’s side at the end of the last season, as they couldn’t beat a released team when they needed it most, and this led Arsenal steal their spot and relegate them to their final 3rd position. So far this season, we’ve seen the same behaviour by Spurs players, as they didn’t have any reaction during their game against Monaco in Champions League and neither against Chelsea last weekend and this appears to be the biggest problem of the team.

Tottenham needs to focus on one competition-

Sure, it would have been a good thing if they could win more than one competition or compete in at least two of them, but Tottenham failed to compete in the Champions and Premier at the same time. They are used to it because of the amount of tournament in England, but this wasn’t going to be the same. Now, they will stop their activity in Champions League, and this could be a bonus for them to concentrate their illusions only in Premier League.
