Forget Mkhitaryan: Here Are Three Other Attackers Arsenal Should Look To Sign This Summer

Arsene Wenger

Although Arsenal finished second on the table last season, there is no doubt they had let a big chance to secure the title slip away from their hands, especially given the disappointing season other big teams had. One of the main reasons, why Arsenal couldn’t make the most of the other team’s failings was because of the lack of goals. The Gunner’s striking problem has been one of the most hotly debated topics in the Premier League last season. However with a big transfer kitty available to him this summer, Arsene Wenger can afford to splash the cash and strengthen the teams attacking department.

With Arsenal not having a player to score over 20 goals in the Premier League since Robin van Persie did in 2011/12, it is very clear they need a striker who is capable of having a 20 goal Premier League season. Here are the three strikers who Arsenal should consider signing this summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ibrahimovic is available for free this summer after he announced that he will be moving on from PSG and is looking to work on English soil for the first time in his career. Zlatan is one of the most creative attacking players in the world and has the ability to score outrageous goals from time to time.

There is no doubt, that if Wenger is able to bring the Swedish player to the Emirates, he would have successfully signed one of the most lethal and decorated strikers in the world.  At 34 years of age, Ibrahimovic won’t only contribute on the field but will be a great source of knowledge for the youngsters, who can feed off from his years of experience. His selfish streak and the reluctance to get back and help defensively is exactly needed right now, an out-and-out striker whose only aim is to get goals.

Alvaro Morata

Arsene Wenger has been a long time admirer of Morata but hasn’t been able to bring the Spanish striker to London. A lot of people were surprised after Madrid sold Morata to the Italian Champions Juventus last summer for £16m, however, they inserted a buyback clause into the contract which allows them to buy back the player for £23.6m.

Morata has great pace and aerial ability which makes him one of the most in demand strikers in Europe currently. Although he didn’t have a great last season with Juventus, his move to the Emirates could hugely help his development. With the likes of Sanchez, Cazorla and Ozil supplying him in behind, the 23 year old could thrive in front of the goal.

Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain has been linked with a move to the Emirates quite a few times but nothing has ever worked out. With Bale arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, he was shipped out to the Italian side Napoli, where his form has been nothing short of prolific. Although he doesn’t have that much pace, he does however posses a superb ability to be at the right place at the right time, and a lethal shot.

With 36 goals in 35 matches for Napoli last season, Higuain is one of the most under rated strikers in the world. A move to Arsenal will go a long way in giving him the platform to perform on a world stage, in the most competitive league in the world.
