Last summer, Manchester United appointed the legendary Louis van Gaal as the manager of the club. After a successful stint with the Netherlands national team, the highly experienced Dutchman took charges of the side that needed to revive from a disastrous previous season. The team needed a boost and the officials felt that none other than van Gaal could possibly improve their situation. Louis van Gaal decided to change the core of the team bringing in fresh and quality faces. They went on a spending spree. A total of 196 million Euros was spent to acquire the services of Angel Di Maria, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao. While the other players joined the team on a permanent deal, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao joined the Premier League giants on the transfer deadline on a loan deal which will be converted into a permanent move the succeeding season if the club agrees.
The much-hyped move of Radamel Falcao was greeted with mixed emotions at the club as few people were skeptical about Falcao’s presence as he joined after a prolonged injury period. The doubt rose further after Falcao got injured yet again after three or four games. Till now the Colombian has managed to score 3 goals in 7 Premier League appearances.
The question of whether Falcao will be signed on a permanent deal next summer will be answered later by the club. For the time being we, have decided to jot down few reasons why Manchester United should retain the services of Radamel Falcao beyond this season.
Manchester United needs a positive striker beside Robin van Persie
Louis van Gaal mostly opts for a 3-5-2 formation for this Manchester United team. For most of this season, the team featured in this formation. Given the fact that Wayne Rooney mostly tracks back and loves to play from the midfield, United needs a talisman beside Robin van Persie up front. Radamel Falcao is undoubtedly a brilliant striker who can create immediate impact on any team. His ability to score from any given situation adds extra flavor to a team’s attack. Also, Falcao can play a supporting role and create chances for his partner, who is known to be a prolific poacher.
Radamel Falcao can single-handedly win matches for a team
Radamel Falcao holds the potential to change the fate of a particular match single-handedly. He had done this previously at FC Porto, Atletico Madrid and also for his national team where he is practically the only talisman. On any given day, Falcao is a huge threat for the opposition. It automatically inculcates a fear in the opposition’s defense. Even though he is plagued by injuries at present, no one can actually doubt Falcao’s abilities. The day he recovers fully and gain full fitness, he can run tremors.
Radamel Falcao’s presence will be needed in Europe next year
The way Manchester United are playing this season, without a doubt it can be said that they are going to be back in the mainstream European football from the coming season. Right now, they are even serious contenders for winning the Premier League title. Given the fact that they will feature in European competitions from next season, they need to think about the future from now. It is true that more than attackers, the team needs quality defenders, but they cannot just let go one of their best acquisition of this season, that is Radamel Falcao. People at the club are still skeptical about Falcao’s need in the team, but I personally believe Falcao’s presence in the need will only strengthen Manchester United for the upcoming UEFA Champions League. With Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria in the midfield and Robin van Persie and Falcao upfront, the Premier League giants will surely be one of the teams to reckon in Europe next season.
