Arsenal have struggled defensively for most of the season. Other than their defenders (especially Sagna and Vermaelen), their goal keepers too were inconsistent through-out the season. Many goal keepers like Adler, Begovic and even Cassilas were linked with Arsenal in last few weeks. But there is one more possible target that media failed to cover. It’s Michel Vorm from Swansea.
Now let’s discuss the benefits of signing this consistent goal keeper,
- Szczesny Factor – Both Fabianski and Szczesny are too inconsistent to be a regular starter. Szczesny is still young and may require another couple of years to become a matured goal keeper. Michel Vorm would be a perfect choice as he is in his right age (29). This move may help Szczesny to groom into a complete player under the guidance of experienced Vorm.
- Premier League Experience – Vorm has good experience in highly paced premier league after spending two very reliable seasons at Swansea and would be a great addition to the squad.
- Stats – Vorm also has seven clean sheets in the league this season which is the more than any other goal keepers in the premier league . He is also been capped nine times for the Netherlands.
It is believed that a bid £10 million will tempt Swans to sell their shot stopper. But the bigger question is whether Wenger is ready to spend on a goal keeper from his so called allocated war chest this Summer? Share your thoughts on this below!
