Three Reaons Why A Move By This Real Madrid Star To Tottenham Makes Sense

Isco

Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, also known as ‘Isco’ is one of the most talented young Spanish players in the game. He is a quick, skillful and a creative playermaker. He is known for his natural ability to pick out an inch-perfect pass, dribble past two-three challenges and even has the ability to shoot from long range.

The Premier League has always attracted the best players and it is inevitable that Isco too shall land up in England sooner rather than later. Arsenal and Manchester City have shown interest in the past, but nothing ever materialized. Tottenham are now being linked with the player as they look to further strengthen their squad and in turn their hunt for the title.

Isco has been sidelined at Real Madrid. Ever since arriving in 2013, he has only been a bit-part player that is used sparingly. He seems to have grown frustrated with this and the situation doesn’t look like it’s going to improve anytime sooner. When he was first brought in to the Bernabeu, big things were expected of Isco but he has never quite lived up to that billing. He hasn’t exactly repaid the faith shown in him by Real Madrid, when they shelled out 30 million euros to sign him from Malaga. But then again, he hasn’t been given much of a chance. Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos who arrived after Isco have been preferred to the diminutive Spaniard.

Here are 3 reasons why Isco to Tottenham would make perfect sense –

Style of play

Isco would fit in perfectly at Tottenham. The style of play deployed by current manager Mauricio Pochettino is also something he would cherish and blend in with, quite easily. The number 10 role behind the striker is a role that Isco would flourish in and the likes of Kane, Son and Moussa Sissoko are almost certain to benefit from the service that Isco might provide. Tottenham are also known to deploy the pressing style of play which Isco would certainly enjoy. The fast nature of the Premier League will also suit Isco as many players such as him have made it big in the league. David Silva, Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata are all valid examples who are similar in stature to Isco and have performed well in the Premier League.

Replacement/alternative to Christian Eriksen

One player whose performance has been under the scanner at Tottenham is Christian Eriksen. He has failed to perform on a consistent basis. His stand out performances are few and far between and for a club like Spurs, who are in the Champions League this season as well, it is just not acceptable from a player that always starts. At the moment there is too much pressure on the likes of Erik Lamela, Sissoko, Dele Alli to create chances. Eriksen, even on being played more than regularly has failed to produce the goods.

Good deal for all parties involved

Real Madrid signed Isco in 2013. In 3 years at the club, he has failed to hold down a regular starting role for himself. Even substitute appearances are not as regular as he’d have liked them to be. When a player like James Rodriguez is benched, it’s not hard to understand why Isco has no foreseeable future at the Spanish giants. He should look to move on and make the move to the Premier League. Real Madrid too would benefit from this as it would mean he is no longer in their ranks. They wouldn’t be wasting money on his wages etc. Spurs are also likely to benefit hugely if the move were to happen, as they are in genuine need of quality in midfield.
