Three realistic transfers Leicester City could complete this month including this Arsenal star

Leicester City boss Claude Puel

Three Potential Transfer Targets For Leicester City In January

With the January window up and running, Leicester City are likely to be bustling to bring in newer recruits. They started the season on a dismal note which eventually saw Craig Shakespeare get sacked. The Foxes then appointed former Southampton manager Claude Puel and things have improved for them ever since. After being almost relegation-threatened, Leicester have managed to climb back up steadily and are now at 8th place in the points table.

Ordinarily, that itself would be a good place for them to finish but there’s no harm in harbouring higher aspirations. With their current squad, they can fight for a top six finish but their resolve will be strengthened if they manage to land some quality recruits in the ongoing winter window. While it will be equally important for them to keep hold of key players like Riyad Mahrez, let’s take a look at three realistic transfer targets they can consider this January.

Theo Walcott – Arsenal

Walcott’s future at Arsenal continues to be a huge question mark and he could benefit Leicester instead. At his best, he can be lethal and is in dire need of playing time to revive his career. That option seems unlikely at the Emirates but with Mahrez’s future in uncertainty as well, Walcott could be a viable option worth exploring for Leicester. Acquiring his services won’t be tough either since the Gunners might want to free up their wage bill. So Walcott is one player Leicester could go for.

Mario Gaspar – Villareal

Puel does have a dearth of options when it comes to the right-back area. While Danny Simpson has been quite strong, he is 30 years of age and cannot be an option for the long run. Hence, signing a right-back this January could prove to be fruitful for Leicester and Gaspar does seem like a quality option. He is defensively quite solid and contributes generously to the attack as well. Known for some mean tackles and blocks, Gaspar could be a good signing for the Foxes.

Fousseni Diabate – Gazelec Ajaccio

A player who is relatively unheard of but Diabate has been linked with the Foxes and does seem like a quality long-term signing. He boasts of tremendous potential and although the Foxes do not need a forward immediately, Diabate can use this period to develop and hone his skills before stepping out in a Leicester jersey. While it is important to the strengthen the side at present, a talented youngster like Diabate can be a good investment.
