Three Players Liverpool Should Smash Their Transfer Record For This Summer

Klopp

Many thought that Liverpool were back at their best after closely missing out on the Premier League title in the 2013-2014 season but with Saurez leaving, their top scorer from that season, any hopes of revival were put to bed. The Merseyside team has gone back down the table and finished last season at the 8th spot in the table, something many would have thought was impossible 8 years ago, around that famous Istanbul final against AC Milan. After Suarez left, the next big star Raheem sterling also made his way out of the exit door to join Manchester City.

With their two superstars gone for a quite big sum, many were expecting Brendan Rodgers to buy world class players to strengthen the team before it falls back into a downward spiral, however that was not to be. Rodgers did sign players but unfortunately for him none of them could produce the quality that was needed to propel Liverpool back to the top, Hence Rodgers was sacked early last season and Jurgen Klopp was brought in, a decision which was wildly celebrated amongst the Red’s supporters. However the former Dortmund manager couldn’t weave his magic with the squad he had inherited from his predecessor and finished well below the Champions League places.

However Klopp has this summer window to build a squad which is best suited for his style of play. He can use the funds available to him and bring real quality stars who can help Liverpool challenge for the title next season. He might need to fork out big amounts in order to get these players to Anfield but it is not an impossible task. Here we list three players who might be a bit expensive but can definitely add a lot to the current Liverpool squad.

mario gotze

Mario Gotze

One of Jurgen Klopp’s prime targets is the former Dortmund player himself Gotze. The fact that the German was the match winner in the 2014 World Cup final, just goes to show that he is someone who isn’t afraid of the big stage, rather he relishes it. Liverpool are in dire need of a world class attacker who can complement Daniel Sturridge and help the club get goals, something which was in short supply last season.

Gonzalo Higuain

The most pressing issue right now at Anfield is the lack of goals from the front line last season, hence Klopp is looking to beef up the strike force this summer. One player who will be perfect for Liverpool in that aspect is the Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, who just had the most productive season ever in his life at Napoli. The former Real Madrid won’t be easy to get, especially since a host of other clubs are after his service, which would only lead to further increase in his price.

Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian had a disappointing last season, which has left his future at Chelsea in doubt. Simon Mignolet who was given a 5 year extension on his deal just last season, didn’t do enough to instill confidence in the Anfield faithful. It is unlikely that Chelsea will be looking to offload a player who has just had one bad season but if Liverpool come in with a big offer, who knows especially since we have had much more shocking deals going through over the past couple of years.
