Three ideal Premier League destinations for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to a report from The Sun, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool had sent their scouts to Stadio Olimpico to monitor Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during Lazio’s clash with Genoa.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was Lazio’s star performer last season as he racked up 14 goals and 6 assists across all competitions. He has started the new campaign well, contributing with a goal and an assist in six Serie A games.
The Serbian midfielder has renewed his contract with Lazio until 2023 which includes no release clause. That said, Milinkovic-Savic is valued at more than over £100million by club president Claudio Lotito.
Any club planning to sign the Serbian midfielder must stump up more than the colossal asking fee. With that in mind, here are three ideal Premier League destinations for Milinkovic-Savic.
-
Manchester United
Manchester United are in a crisis at the moment, following their poor start to the new Premier League campaign. Jose Mourinho is under severe pressure and if he manages to stay at Old Trafford until January, he must reignite interest in Milinkovic-Savic.
Despite having Paul Pogba in the midfield, the Red Devils lack a dynamic midfielder — a player who is defensively diligent and adept at building attacks from the middle of the park. In that aspect, Milinkovic-Savic is the ideal player for United and Mourinho must persuade the board to break the bank for the Serbian.
If United manage to sign Milinkovic-Savic in January, the Serbian and Pogba could form a formidable midfield pairing in the Premier League.
-
Liverpool
Following a 0-0 stalemate against Manchester City at Anfield last weekend, it is quite obvious Liverpool need to sign a creative midfielder in January.
Jurgen Klopp made big-money signings in the summer to strengthen his squad but he is yet to bring in a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who quit Anfield for Barcelona in January.
Therefore, a move for Milinkovic-Savic would make utmost sense for the Reds. Milinkovic-Savic can organize and dictate play on both sides of the pitch. He has an eye for a pass and often drives at defenders with pace to start attacks. The 23-year-old is defensively sound and has the guile required to create opportunities for his team.
Hence, Klopp must get Milinkovic-Savic in January to further bolster his squad.
-
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur failed to add a single player in the summer and must make a statement of intent in January by bagging Milinkovic-Savic.
With Mousa Dembele struggling to cope up with the demands of the Premier League – and the fact that he will be out of contract at the end of the campaign – Milinkovic-Savic appears to be the ideal replacement for the Belgian.

The Serbian would provide power, pace, vision, strength and creativity to Spurs’ midfield, making Pochettino’s team a true terror to go up against.
