Tim Howard’s erratic form between the sticks this season has forced the Toffees’ boss Roberto Martinez to look elsewhere and if reports from the Liverpool Echo (cited by Dailystar) are to be believed, he has identified his number one target for the goalkeeper’s position. The news was substantiated by the fact that Martinez has a number of scouts watching him in action against PSB Eindhoven last weekend.
Dutch number one Jasper Cillessen, who was subject of numerous rumours linking him to move to Manchester United in the previous transfer window is now a priority signing for Everton. The 26 years old has kept 13 clean sheets in the league for Ajax and would be a valuable addition for Everton.
However, the biggest roadblock for the deal would be the price that Frank De Boer places on the head of Cillessen. The manager has maintained that Ajax would not be keen to sell the goalkeeper unless an extraordinary offer came by.
