Middlesbrough Opinion: Tomasz Kedziora will secure the right-back position

Middlesbrough are one of the few Championship clubs who are still left in what has been an extremely tight and competitive race for the automatic qualification spots to the Premier League.

With 35 games of the season already played by most teams, the end of the season is near and the answers to this long-drawn promotion saga is heading towards a conclusion.

With the top-6 filled with massive competition and nobody’s position even nearly secure yet, Middlesbrough have as good a chance as anybody to qualify for the Premier League next season and that should fill Boro fans with confidence. 

The football that this team has produced this season has been absolutely magical while their massive efforts have been rewarded with a very respectable 5th place on the table.

Even with 9 points between themselves and 2nd-placed Leeds United, they have a solid chance, having played a 
game lesser as well.

While securing 5th place is a reasonably commendable task, some of the football they have played this season has warranted much more. With the best defensive record in the league, a better attacking core could’ve taken this Boro side to new heights. 

With the Premier League in view next season, there are multiple issues which need to be addressed in the forward areas for Boro but maintaining their defensive structure must become a priority. 

One position where Boro are completely short of reinforcements is the right-back role where Ryan Shotton remains the only option. At 30, Shotton’s days are numbered and he doesn’t possess the pace he once did either. 

In his absence, midfielder Dael Fry has been used in this position and this could spell trouble for Boro next season, which is why they must make a move for Dynamo Kyiv right-back Tomasz Kedziora who has been in blistering form this season. 

A Polish international who has made 7 appearances for his country already, the 24-year-old wing-back has been touted for big things because of his defensive work rate and attacking potency.

His crossing and forward runs are his biggest assets and he is assured to be a hit in England.

Conclusion

He has played 18 times in the Premier Liga for Kyiv while he has also represented them in 13 European matches in both the Champions League and Europa League.

A product of the Lech Poznan academy, his pace and intelligence would make him a good fit for English football and he must be signed by Boro.
