The Winning XI – A Leeds Lineup That Could Potentially Win The Championhip
Leeds United have made some good steps in the transfer market of late and the more positive elements of the support will be hoping that they can better last season’s 7th placed finish, despite the losses of key personnel such as Kyle Bartley and manager Garry Monk.
Here we look at a XI which could potentially land the title in this division, including not only some established players but also the best of their new recruits, along with few players they are reportedly going after in the past few weeks.
GK – Felix Wiedwald
Making Rob Green available for transfer was something not all Leeds fans received well, but the German ‘keeper has quality and may prove over time, to be a more able custodian.
RB – Luke Ayling
The regular full-back has done little wrong and is likely to be allowed to carry on from where he left off last season.
CB – Pontus Jansson
Now that he is part of the club on a permanent basis, the big Swede can have even more influence on this side.
CB – Aden Flint
Leeds have been accused lately of attempting to unsettle the Bristol City centre-back, something they deny. He would be an excellent addition to the squad though and a good replacement for Bartley.
LB – Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
The Manchester United youngster has a big future in the game and Leeds are looking for a replacement for Charlie Taylor, long or short term. Would be a perfect match.
CM – Vurnon Anita
Leeds have other options, but the former Ajax and Newcastle man has quality as well as recent experience of having won this division.
CM – Ronaldo Vieira
The young Portuguese gets better and better and has a huge Premier League future – hopefully with Leeds.
RW – Kemar Roofe
The former Oxford United man is another real improver and much is expected of him this time around.
CAM – Samu Saiz
In a very new look Leeds outfit, Saiz is another who has it all, to impress the home support. He certainly has the raw skills to be able to do it.
LW – Ryan Kent
The Liverpool youngster is wanted by around 10 clubs on loan this summer after impressing during his temporary spell at Barnsley last season, including Leeds. He’d be a great addition to the Leeds lineup.
ST – Chris Wood
Much like Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney at Fulham, one of Leeds’ biggest successes this transfer window has been keeping hold of Wood and another 20+ season in front of goal is required from him.
