This 24-year-old Japanese ace has the perfect attributes to become Everton’s first-choice striker in the years ahead – Here is why

Everton Opinion: Takumi Minamino signing will hoist Everton into Top-6

Everton had one of the best summers in the English top-flight in terms of utilisation of the pre-season transfer window as they performed a complete overhaul of their squad.

Some of the additions they made were unthinkable while the quality of each and every one of their signings is now unquestionable. While there were certain departures as well, Marco Silva managed to do some excellent busineses.

The most important transfer they made was signing Brazilian prodigy Richarlison from Silva’s former club Watford, where the pair worked wonders together.

While he has certainly lived up to the billing in terms on individual brilliance having contributed a large number of goals to this Toffees side, a top striker is a necessity at Goodison Park.

Although the Brazilian was the most high-profile import of the summer window, there were a multitude of other transfers that were made – including the addition of three stars from Barcelona.

Full-back Lucas Digne, centre-half Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes were all brought in from Catalonia during the summer. While the latter is on a loan deal, these are all players who would greatly benefit from the presence of a prolific striker up-front.

While their current options include Cenk Tosun and young Dominic Calvert-Lewin, neither of them have delivered. The addition of a striker in the upcoming transfer window must become Marco Silva’s priority.

If there is one striker that the Merseyside outfit should be targeting, it has to be Red Bull Salzburg forward Takumi Minamino, who at just 24, is already a first team regular.

He has played 30 games in all competitions this season and while his league involvement has been sporadic, his efforts in the Europa League have given him impressive numbers of 2 assists and 4 goals from his 8 games.

He is a pacy forward who likes to get on the end of low crosses in the area. A predator inside the box, his sharpness and reactions set him out as an expert goal-poacher – a talent that is fast dying in the football world.

His pace and intelligence will suit the English style while dynamic players like Richarlison and Bernard will enhance his attributes as well. This is a no-brainer of a move for Everton and Marco Silva must bring the Japanese star to Goodison.
