Well done Siewert – Huddersfield have captured a gem of a talent by signing this 20-year-old prospect

Huddersfield opinion: Josh Koroma is a fantastic signing for the Terriers

Freshly relegated Huddersfield Town completed the signing of Leyton Orient’s 20-year-old forward Josh Koroma last week. The Terriers will be keen to make an immediate return to the Premier League, where they had one of the worst campaigns for any side last season.

Huddersfield finished the campaign with just three wins all season but with a new manager in Jan Siewert, they have the perfect opportunity to have a fresh start in the Championship where they can build their way back up to the top-flight.

Town’s biggest problem last season was their inability to score goals. Huddersfield managed to score just 22 goals in 38 games, which is an abysmal return for any side in the history of the competition.

Jan Siewert has quite a job on his hands next season and he has started off well with the signing of young Josh Koroma.

The 20-year-old played for Leyton Orient in a hugely successful campaign in the national league last season and his performances helped the club to promotion to League Two.

Koroma finished the campaign with 11 goals and 7 assists, mainly playing as a centre-forward but the teenager is far more versatile.

Koroma can play anywhere across the front-three and has the ability to both lead the line as well as to play just off of the main striker. This could come in incredibly handy for Siewert next season, who will have a number of options thanks to Koroma’s versatility.

The youngster, however, is most comfortable when he is in his natural position as a central striker. Siewert could try out a partnership of Koroma and Karlan Grant and if the duo can compliment each other in attack next season, the Terriers will certainly be a joy to watch.

The biggest gamble for Siewert and his side is the fact that Koroma is yet to play in a league as high as the Championship.

The youngster might struggle to adapt with the technical quality of the league Siewert sill need to be patient with him in the early days if he doesn’t adapt as quickly as he would have wanted.

Koroma could well see himself on the bench for a number of games, which would give Siewert the option of using him as a super-sub, where his introduction of fresh legs could completely change the game in Huddersfield’s favour.

Huddersfield Town have a very exciting prospect in their hands with the signing of Josh Koroma. The Terriers will need to be patient with the youngster but if he can hit the ground running next to the likes of Grant, Siewer could be hopeful of a swift return back to the Premier League.
