This 16-goal Leeds target is absolutely ideal for Daniel Farke to boost Norwich’s chances of securing promotion

Why Norwich City should make a January swoop for Macauley Bonne

According to a report from Yorkshire Evening Post, Championship clubs Norwich City, Derby County, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are all interested in signing Leyton Orient star Macauley Bonne.

The Zimbabwe international, 23, joined Leyton Orient from Colchester United in 2017 and since making the move to London, Macauley Bonne has become a star, hitting 25 goals in all competitions last term. He has picked from where he left off last season, already scoring 16 goals and recording four assists in just 22 league games this season in the National League.

It is Bonne’s blistering form that has seen the Championship clubs go berserk for his signature. And Norwich City must try beating their Championship rivals for the talented 23-year-old’s signature.

Still at the top of the table, Norwich City fans have every right to be optimistic about the way things have panned out this season. The Canaries have Leeds United and West Brom breathing down their neck but Daniel Farke’s team should forget how their rivals are faring and continue claiming points during the busy run of fixtures.

Injuries and suspensions are part and parcel of the game; so it’ll be important on Norwich’s part to keep their squad beefed up for the gruelling second half of the season. One area the Canaries must certainly target bolstering in January is the attack, with Nelson Oliveir set to depart the club in January.

Oliveira hasn’t played one game for the Canaries this season after several disputes with Daniel Farke last season. So it was a surprise to see him stay at Carrow Road in the summer but he will move in the January, with Turkish outlet Fotospor suggesting that Besiktas have agreed on a loan deal with the Portuguese forward and can make it permanent in the summer of 2019.

As far as Norwich are concerned, Oliveira’s potential departure in January would reduce the wage bill and it’s fair to say that he won’t be missed by Farke’s side.

Teemu Pukki has been a revelation since joining the club in the summer from Brondby, whilst Jordan Rhodes has proven himself to be an ideal deputy. But the Canaries could still need extra firepower in the second half of the season and Farke would be wise to complete a deal for Macauley Bonne in January.

Bonne, blessed with physicality, aerial prowess and pace, would offer competition and cover from the bench for the likes of Pukki and Rhodes. The Zimbabwe international would bring a different dimension to the Norwich attack, whilst adding more pace and power to the squad.

Hence, signing Bonne in January should be a no-brainer for Norwich as the 23-year-old would bolster Farke’s promotion hopes.
