Liverpool opinion: 4 worst Liverpool loan signings in the past decade
A lot of talk has been going around about Liverpool’s brilliant additions over the last few years. The likes of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson have turned the Reds into serious contenders for both the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, The Reds have made a few atrocious panic signings over the years and here are 4 of them who made a loan switch to Anfield but failed miserably:
Nuri Sahin
One of the brightest prospects in world football a few years ago, Sahin joined Liverpool on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid in 2012. The Turk started off his spell with the Reds spectacularly, scoring one and assisting two in his second start against Norwich.
Everything went downhill from there for Sahin as that turned out to be his only contribution for the Reds till January. Liverpool cut his loan deal short in the winter transfer window and Sahin returned to his parent club Real Madrid after making just 7 appearances for the Reds.
Steven Caulker
Liverpool signed Steven Caulker on loan from fellow Premier League side Queens Park Rangers in January 2016. A centre-back by trade, Caulker was surprisingly used as an auxiliary centre-forward by the Reds which became the only highlight of his time.
Caulker turned out to be one of the worst on-loan signings in the club’s history as he featured for just 4 mins in the league in his 6-month spell at the club and was sent back to QPR at the end of the season.
Javier Manquillo
Manquillo joined Liverpool on a 2-year loan deal in 2014 from La Liga side Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard played the full 90 minutes in 3 of Liverpool’s first 4 games but eventual mistakes cost him a spot in the side.
The Spaniard made just 10 appearances in the league, all of which came in the first half of the season. Manquillos’s loan deal was terminated at the end of the season and he returned to the Spanish giants.

Victor Moses
Moses joined Liverpool on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea in 2013. The Nigerian got his chance immediately as he started the first 5 games of the season for the Reds but then fell off.
Moses only managed one more start all season and scored just once in the league before returning to Chelsea at the end of his deal.
