The Catalans are now on the top of the Spanish Primera Division table with 3 points clear of Atletico Madrid, who play Osasuna later today.
Messi crossed his 300th goal mark for club and countryThe match started in a usual fashion as Barcelona dominated large spells of possession and it was David Villa, who drew first blood, scoring the only goal of the first half . Lionel Messi gave Barca a clear advantage just three minutes after the break. Though Rayo Vallecano looked dangerous on counter attacks and showed some resistance, it was no stopping Messi and co.
