The Next Tomas Rosicky? Arsenal Should Simply Sign This £7m Czech Midfielder Targeted By A Host Of European Clubs

Why Arsenal Should Sign The Promising Jakub Jankto This Summer

Often hailed as “The New Rosicky”, 21- year old Czech international Jakub Jankto, has been a long-term target for Arsene Wenger, and after a great season with Udinese, the £7million central midfielder is being monitored by Napoli, Juventus, Arsenal, West Ham and Stoke. (The Mirror)

In the Arsenal midfield, Granit Xhaka has impressed of late, but apart from the Swiss International, the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin were not able to perform up to standards and have been highly inconsistent; something that Arsenal would be looking to do away with this season. Jack Wilshere, after all these years, hasn’t fulfilled the extraordinary talent of his and Santi Cazorla has long been injured and is ageing. So Arsenal are in need of reinforcements at the centre of the park.

While not as attacking as the Spaniard, the new Czech Republic international would be an interesting squad option and a well-balanced central midfielder, who can create plays and break them with equal ease. A left-footed set piece specialist, Jankto likes to carry the ball forward from deep in the midfield with his confident simple footwork and plays risky shorter passes in the final third to unlock the defence. An inability to make accurate long balls might falter in any counter attacking style of football, but it’s nothing that can’t be improved.

Jankto has progressed impressively since joining Udinese from Slavia Prague in 2014. In his debut Serie A season with Udinese, the 21-year-old managed to forge his place in the first-team setup and was largely influential in the midfield for the Serie A outfit. Jankto managed to score 5 goals and set up another 4 in 24 Serie A matches, which also highlights his ability to provide and create goals from the midfield.

The player has already proven himself in the Serie A this season and has a £6million release clause. So the Italian clubs are highly likely to make an approach for this proven prospect.

Arsenal look keen to bolster their central midfield and are also looking at the future, much as Arsene Wenger always does.

For Jakub Jankto, there are doubts over the prospect of regular first-team football at the other major clubs vying for his signature, which may influence his decision. Arsenal may be able to provide Jankto with the promise of regular football in order to gain an advantage over other suitors, along with a great development system to grow and fulfill his potential. He has a great opportunity to work with someone of Arsene Wenger’s stature and it would hugely aid his career.

As far as Arsenal is concerned, they should look to sign him up this summer.
