Footballers in England are paid handsome salaries to not only entertain us but basically score, assist, tackle and save in a match. Most of the footballers are on multi-million salaries and SBO.net have come up with some interesting numbers regarding which players are the most cost-effective footballs in England.

The cost per action of a player is basically the player’s salary divided by the number of actions (goals scored, assists made, saves etc.) a player completes.

All the figures are taken from the 2016-17 season and it is no surprise that Tom Heaton tops the list for goalkeepers and all players as he made a save for every £9,220. The goalie from Burnley made just £1.3 million last season, which is a really low figure to be honest.

The most effective player in front of goal Joshua King. The Bournemouth man cost his club just £65,000 per goal as he notched up 16 for the Cherries. The others on the list were Michail Antonio, Andre Gray, Dele Alli and Junior Stanislas.

The player whose assists cost the least was Wilfried Zaha for just £202,222 per assist, while the player who did the best in defence with another Burnley man, Matthew Lowton making 101 tackles with each costing the Cherries £10,297, with Adam Clayton, Stephen Ward, Nyom and George Boyd completing the list.
