West Ham took on Ronald Koeman’s Everton side away from home at the Goodison park. Slaven Bilic’s men were looking to build on 2 consecutive 1-0 victories that came against Crystal Palace and Sunderland recently. The first half ended 0-0 as both sides threatened occasionally. The second half was rather one-sided as the home side dominated and scored 2 goals through Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.

Here are the West Ham player ratings for the game –

Formation –  3-4-2-1

Adrian– 6

Made several saves throughout the game, especially off Lukaku. Couldn’t do much about the 2 goals West Ham conceded as they were more down to poor defending.

Edemilson Fernandes – 5.5

The Swiss midfielder who scored the second against Chelsea in the League Cup was forced to play at right wing back. Didn’t put on a great show and was eventually brought off when the Hammers needed attacking re-enforcements.

Cheikhou Kouyate– 5.5

Was forced to tuck in at center back in a back 3 rather than in midfield where he usually plies his trade for The Hammers.  Was culpable for the second goal as he let Barkley wonder into space and the Englishman volleyed in having been set up by Lukaku.

Winston Reid– 6

The New Zealander was quite ordinary and let Romelu Lukaku do his thing all game. Sent crashing back down to earth after last weekend’s high when he scored a late winner against Sunderland.

Angel Ogbonna- 5

Struggled to deal with Yannick Bolasie’s tenacity throughout the game. He looked like a real vulnerability in defence and Bolasie along with Coleman, who kept terrorizing him time and again.

Aaron Cresswell – 5

Didn’t have a great return to first team action after being suspended last time out. Everton’s winger and wingback took him apart. It wasn’t a joyful return to Merseyside for the Liverpool-born man.

Yannick Bolasie has a shot blocked by Mark Noble

Mark Noble – 6

Was ineffective on the day as Everton’s midfielder had the last laugh. Some of the form that called for him to be in contention for an international call-up seems to have faded away.

Pedro Obiang– 4.5

Booked. Didn’t look like doing much when he was on the pitch. Should’ve scored when he was 1v1 with Robles. Was rightly taken off after an ordinary performance.

Manuel Lanzini – 6

The Argentine midfielder didn’t have one of his better games. Was stifled well by Gareth Barry and co. in midfield. Struggled to have a real impact on the game and the result shows.

Dimitri Payet–6.5

Was one of West Ham’s better players. Tried to create chances for his teammates throughout the game but nothing came of it.

Michael Antonio – 6

Started the game upfront and it didn’t look very promising. Came into his own when he was moved out right, which is his natural position.

Substitutes –

Andre Ayew – 5 (Pedro Obiang 60)

Couldn’t do much on his return from a long injury lay-off. West Ham will be delighted with his return.

Simone Zaza – 4.5 ( Edemilson Fernandes 71)

The Italian struggled to make an impact after coming on. Never looked like posing a threat and has continued his dreaded run of form since moving to West Ham.

Sofiane Feghouli – 5 (Manuel Lanzini 78)

Came on too late to have any kind of impact on the game. Everton were already 2-0 up and there wasn’t much he could do to change that.

Subs unused – Randolph, Nordtveit, Collins, Fletcher
