Team News + Arsene Wenger Talks To The Press For The First Time After Chelsea Game

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger having opted out of his post-match press conference after Chelsea’s 6-0 rout and subsequently cancelling his pre-match conference ahead of the Swansea game tomorrow, spoke to the press behind closed doors earlier today.

Adding to that, Wenger updated on the team news explaining about the situations of Gibbs and Chamberlain.

on the team news…

We have lost Laurent Koscielny for Tuesday’s game with a calf problem. I don’t know how long he will be out for. He has a scan today [Monday]. Everyone else should be available.

on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain…

There is a question mark about Chamberlain. The situation over his suspension will be decided today. After that I will make a decision. At the moment he is in the squad. Right now only Koscielny is out of the squad and he has been replaced by Hector Bellerin. We expected Kieran Gibbs’ suspension to be overturned.

However, latest reports from BBC, suggest that FA have cleared the Red Card for Gibbs and there has been no charge for Chamberlain as well.

This means, Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen will start at the back alongside Mertesacker while Gibbs will retain his left back slot. It remains to see whether Wenger decides to use Ox in the midfield once again or use him on the wings.
