Superb Barnes, Impressive Barry – Here’s how the West Brom stars fared in the 4-1 vs Reading

West Brom Player Ratings vs Reading – Here’s how the Baggies fared

West Brom continued their resurgence this season with an emphatic come from behind 4-1 win over Reading at the Hawthorns. It was their fifth consecutive home league win with goals from Dwight Gayle (2), Harvey Barnes and Kyle Bartley helping the cause.

The away team got off to a good start when Bacuna scored inside the first six minutes. But the Baggies responded in the right manner, scoring four goals in 31 second-half minutes to seal the three points.

West Brom Player Ratings

Sam Johnstone (6.5)

Made a couple routine saves but had no chance to stop Bacuna’s goal. Was a spectator in the second half.

Craig Dawson (6)

Looked shaky in the first half and was booked for a bad foul. The normalcy was restored in the second half, partly due to the fact that he had less defending to do.

Ahmed Hegazi (5)

Gave the ball away, which helped Reading the opening goal. Grew into the game in the second half.

Kyle Bartley (6)

He was very uncomfortable against the Reading attackers. The former Swansea man looked out of confidence. A goal would help his confidence for the future games now.

Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry (7)

A steady and secure performance from Barry in the midfield, shoring up the play and keeping it simple.

Jake Livermore (6)

Struggled to find runners when he had possession in the midfield. The Englishman laboured in the second half and was eventually subbed off.

Kieran Gibbs (7)

A very solid and protective performance from Gibbs, who helped Bartley when the latter was struggling to cope with the Reading forwards.

Tyrone Mears (6)

He overplayed a bit, trying to cut inside and do most things by himself.

Harvey Barnes (7.5)

A star performance from the striker who was always a threat to the defence. Scored a good goal.

Dwight Gayle

Dwight Gayle (8)

Started a bit slow, however, regained his confidence and vigour to win the game by scoring goals.

Jay Rodriguez (6)

He was found running in the wide areas without impacting the game positively.

Substitutes

Kyle Edwards (Subbed on after 62 mins) (7)

His pace down the right-hand side terrified the opposition defence.

Chris Brunt (Subbed on after 68 mins) (7)

Was brought on to add more steel to the midfield, and he did that.
