Superb Allen, Impressive Ince – Here’s how the Stoke City stars fared in the 1-1 draw vs Sheffield United

Stoke City Player Ratings vs Sheffield United: Here’s how the Potters fared

Stoke City left it late against Sheffield United with Joe Allen ensuring his team shared the spoils at the Bramall Lane.

Leon Clarke handed Sheffield the lead in the 70th minute only for the Potters to strike back through the former Liverpool midfielder who was on hand to slot the ball into the back of the net from a free-kick.

Both teams went into the second half scoreless in what proved to be a well-contested game. A point each seems to be the right result for both teams.

Stoke City Player Ratings

Jack Butland (7/10)

Butland did a decent job in this game and made a couple of routines saves. He was unable to do anything about the first goal though.

Cuco Martina (6/10)

A poor showing from Martina who was often caught up front and failed to fulfill his defensive duties.

Ashley Williams (7/10)

A much better performance from Ashley Williams, who has failed to make an impact so far. He made a couple of good headed clearances.

Martins Indi (6/10)

Indi looked troubled for most of the night and needlessly picked up a risky yellow card in the second half.

Erik Pieters (7/10)

Pieters was good defensively but failed to provide much going forward. He was easily dealt with.

Tom Ince (7/10)

Ince supplied well in the final third and was on spot with his passing. He was unfortunate not to play a part in the goals.

Joe Allen (8/10)

A superb performance from the Welsh midfielder who scored the equalising goal via a well-taken free-kick.

Ryan Woods (6/10)

Woods was slightly off the pace in this game and was unable to track the attackers.

James McClean (6/10)

McClean’s deliveries were all off-radar and he failed to make much of an impact on the night.

Substitutes

Peter Crouch (5/10)

Crouch didn’t have much of an effect but he did well to hold the ball up front and win a lot of aerial duels.

Bojan (4/10)

It was too late for Bojan to make an impact though he was on point with his passing.

Thomas Edwards (6/10)

Edwards was sent on to see out the win and the defender did well to soak in all the pressure from Sheffield.
