Why This Struggling Belgian Should Stay At Chelsea Next Season No Matter Who Comes Calling

It has been a disappointing season all around at Chelsea this year and with many players being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, it might not be a surprise to see some of their stars always wanting to move away.

The Premier League might be one of the toughest leagues in the world, but that is what makes it ones of the best leagues in the world. Thibaut Courtois was just one player who had a horrible campaign and it was just injuries which affected the season, it was also red cards which caused him to miss way too many games for the Blues in the season.

The 24-year-old Belgian keeper has been linked with a move away to either PSG or Real Madrid with the latter seeming to be a more concrete destination given that he played in Spain for cross town rivals Atletico Madrid.

Courtois though should stay put at the moment and not think about moving away to another country, he might have had a poor season, but that does not mean he should give up on what he has achieved in England and move away to greener pastures.

Think about it this way, the only Real Madrid want to sign him up is because they could not get the signature of David de Gea for whatever reason it was. De Gea was always Real’s first choice and with the way Madrid treats its players, if Courtois does make a few mistakes, the papers, fans and even the board could get on his nerves, just think about how Bale had to deal with all these adversities.

The other reason why he should not move to Madrid is due to the fact that he played for their rivals and that would never be accepted by the fans of Real at all. PSG are a completely different club, they already have Kevin Trapp, who is one of the best German goalkeepers and moving to that club would mean a proper battle to be number one, but there but there wouldn’t be a lot of competition out there in terms of opposition from outside the PSG camp.

Courtois is still young and has a lot to learn. Staying at Chelsea would guarantee him one thing and that is he would be the number one at the club. With Antonio Conte at the helm, we can expect the Belgian goalkeeper to get better, hopefully, with all the experience the Italian manager brings to the club.

Thibaut has made this his home and staying at the club at this moment is the best thing he can do.
