Strongest Possible Manchester United XI to Face CSKA Moscow: Herrera and Jones to Start

After a 3-0 win against Everton at the Goodison Park, Manchester United travel to Moscow to face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League tomorrow. How will the Red Devils line-up for the clash? Here is their likely starting XI.

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

It is certain that Spanish custodian David de Gea will be in front of the goal ahead of Argentine Sergio Romero.

Defenders: Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Daley Blind

After losing 3-0 to Arsenal before the International break, Manchester United’s defence received a lot of criticisms. Manager Louis Van Gaal made some small changes and the Red Devils managed to have a clean sheet against Everton. For the CSKA Moscow game, new signing Matteo Darmian will play as the right-back while Daley Blind will play as the left-back for the first time this season for Manchester United ahead of Marcos Rojo, who had a great game in the weekend. Englishmen Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will be the two central defenders. It is also highly likely that Antonio Valencia could start at the right ahead of Darmian.

Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial

German International Bastian Schweinsteiger is likely to be rested and in his place, Micheal Carrick is set to get a chance alongside Frenchman Morgan Schneiderlin. Spaniard Ander Herrera, who had an amazing game in the weekend will start and will play behind the striker with compatriot Juan Mata in the right and French wonder kid Anthony Martial in the left. Martial did well against Everton and Van Gaal could deploy the same tactics against the Russian outfit. Dutch youngster Memphis Depay might be asked to start from the bench.

Forward: Wayne Rooney
