Strongest Possible Chelsea Line Up To Face West Ham: Pedro and Zouma to Start

After a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine on Tuesday, Chelsea are travelling to East London to face West Ham United as their manager Jose Mourinho is looking to get his team back on track. There are a lot of talks going around Chelsea’s preferred playing XI. How will the Blues lineup? Here is the possible playing XI for Chelsea against the Hammers

Goalkeeper: Asmir Begovic

It is certain Asmir Begovic will start as he goalkeeper ahead of the latest signing Marco Amelia.

Defenders: Kurt Zouma, Gary Cahill, John Terry and Cesar Azpilicueta

In the absence of Branislav Ivanovic, Chelsea’s defence has looked much better in the Aston Villa game with Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta playing on the right side of Chelsea’s defence, while Abdul Baba Rahman started on the left. But, Mourinho had other ideas in mind for the Champions League match as Frenchman Kurt Zouma started as the right-back with Azpi moving to the right. Mourinho might go in with the same defensive combination he used in Kiev which will have John Terry and Gary Cahill. This means Baba Rahman will move to the bench after just one game.

Midfielders: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Cesc Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro

It is very likely that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will play alongside Cesc Fabregas as the holding midfielder with Oscar playing as the number 10. New signing Pedro Rodriguez will play on the left and Brazilian Willian on the right. This means Chelsea won’t be with their two heroes from the last season Nemanja Matic and Eden Hazard as Mourinho had already stated that he demands more defensive contributions from the Belgian to make it to the squad.

Striker: Diego Costa

Spanish striker Diego Costa will be the only striker in the Chelsea starting line-up this weekend ahead of Frenchman Loic Remy and Colombian Radamel Falcao. Mourinho will be hoping for the Spaniard to fire for Chelsea later tonight,
