Strongest Manchester United XI To Face Palace: Another Chance For RVP

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United will look to seal their grip on the Champions League places when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday. The Red Devils have lost their last three consecutive games including a 0-1 home defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion last week.

While the ‘philosophy’ seems to be reaping rewards with an improved style of play and significantly better recent performances, United have often lacked the cutting edge to break down the opposition. There’s no doubt that Louis van Gaal has a great squad at Manchester United, which will only get stronger with the impending arrival of Memphis Depay in the summer, but it’s fitting each piece into the jigsaw that remains to be achieved.

Michael Carrick is out for the rest of the season, but Luke Shaw (groin), Marcos Rojo (adductor), Jonny Evans (nerve) and Phil Jones (ankle) have overcome their respective injury concerns and are available for selection. Let’s take a look at the Manchester United side which could take the field against Alan Pardew’s resilient Palace side.

David De Gea

Goalkeeper – David De Gea

Will he or won’t he? The constant saga regarding David De Gea’s future at Manchester United seems to have done little to dampen his sizzling form as the Spanish shot-stopper remains one of the very best in the business at the moment, and unquestionably United’s first choice in goal.

Defence – Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw.

The rampaging Luke Shaw has impressed since his return from the injury layoff which curtailed his contribution in his opening season at Old Trafford. The young full-back has shown maturity and defensive diligence along with a knack to provide an outlet down the left, which could see him replace Daley Blind. Marcos Rojo could come in alongside Chris Smalling at centre back while Antonio Valencia is the only available option at right back after Rafael was ruled out for the season with a rib injury.

Midfield – Herrera, Rooney, Mata, Young, Fellaini.

Marouane Fellaini

Angel Di Maria’s crossing was dismal against West From, and the Argentine should only be on the bench, with Ashley Young and Juan Mata on the wings. Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney should continue in central midfield, with the intimidating presence of Marouane Fellaini in the No. 10 role.

Fellaini has been one of United’s best players in the second half of the campaign, and the focal point of much of United’s attacking play. Selhurst Park on Saturday should be no different.

Striker – Robin van Persie

This is Robin van Persie’s big chance to impress the gaffer, and prove to his former International boss that he still has the ability and hunger to perform at the highest level. The Dutchman knows that with United moving early in the transfer market, he has a place to fight for and will look to get back on the scoresheet against the Eagles.
