Manchester United XI To Face Newcastle
Manchester United were booed off the pitch yet again after a nervy 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup. The team needed a 93rd-minute penalty from Wayne Rooney to get the win over the League One side. The only upside for the side was the performance of Memphis Depay who did well coming on in the second half.
United now gear up to take on Newcastle away from home and would be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the league after a 1-0 success over Swansea. United though would have to play miles better than their recent performances if they are to get the better of a Newcastle side looking to push on and move away from a relegation scrap.
Memphis Depay could well be making a start thanks to his performance in the FA Cup; we look ahead to this clash and predict the lineup for the Red Devils.
David de Gea
Probably the best goalkeeper in England if not the world, there is no one who can take De Gea’s place in the starting XI for United.
Matteo Darmian
The Italian has come back at the right time for Manchester United from injury and should keep his place in the team to face Newcastle United.
Chris Smalling
The England defender should continue in his role at the back for Manchester United as he performs and gets better as the games come and go.
Daley Blind
Blind might not be a centre-back but he will be deployed in that position by Van Gaal against Newcastle.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
The youngster has enjoyed a great run under Van Gaal and he should continue in his role in the defence.
Michael Carrick
The maestro in midfield, Carrick will have to be at his best if Manchester United are to unlock the Newcastle defence.
Morgan Schneiderlin
With Bastian Schweinsteiger a doubt for the game, Schneiderlin should get a run against the Toon.
Memphis Depay
Depay was the one player who provided a bright spark for Manchester United in the last game and he should play against Newcastle as well.
Ander Herrera
The attacking midfielder had an off day against Sheffield in the FA Cup but should still keep his place in the starting XI.
Anthony Martial
Martial’s ability has gone amiss after his initial great run and he needs to perform at his best if he wants to keep a place in the starting XI.
Wayne Rooney
Rooney scored the only goal in the win over Sheffield and he will be looking forward to scoring hopefully against a porous Newcastle defence.
