Strongest Leeds United Line-up (4-2-3-1) To Face Preston North End: Wood Is Back

Leeds United will hope to continue their fine run of form which has seen them win 12 and draw 2 of their last 22 Championship fixtures when they visit Deepdale to play Preston North End on boxing day.

The Peacocks sit on 5th position, but still have to keep winning in order to eventually finish in the playoff spots.

Another victory will take them closer to reaching that Premier League return dream, and Garry Monk could name a lineup like this as he attempts to pick up Leed’s 6th win on the road.

Formation : 4-2-3-1

GK – Robert Green

The 35-year-old shot-stopper hasn’t missed a single minute of the current campaign, keeping 8 clean sheets and shipping just 22 goals.

Should remain in between the sticks come Monday.

LB – Taylor

The English full-back has started every of Leeds’ Championship games thus far and has assisted (2) more goals than any defender in the side.

He is a booking away from an automatic one-game suspension, and would have to make his tackles carefully on Monday.

CB – Jansson

The Swedish centre-half has been solid in his duties at the back for Leeds, even if he has been rough in doing so, as evident in his 7 yellows – the most of any Leeds player.

The 25-year-old should be making his 17th start against Preston.

CB – Bartley

The brilliant 25-year-old English centre back is the only other player in the squad to have completed every minute of the campaign and has scored 3 goals despite being a defender.

RB – Ayling

The youngster has been part of Monk’s regular backline quartet, missing just a game thus far.

With 4 bookings, he could be missing yet another one if he picks up a yellow against Preston.

CM – Phillips

The young defensive midfielder has been superb in his role as the anchor in the middle of the park, and has tasted action on 20 occasions this term.

His form could see him rack up a 21st on Monday evening.

CM – Vieira

The Brazilian has the best pass completion rate (81.1%) of any player with more than 10 appearances for Leeds and has found the back of the net once in 15 games.

He is very much likely to make his 12th start of the season against Preston.

AML – Doukara

The Senegalese star is slowly establishing himself within the ranks due to his versatility, leading the line against Brentford last time out.

He should be returning to the left wing on Monday, though that’s subject to Wood’s fitness.

AMC – Roofe

The attacking midfielder has appeared in all but 1 game this term, weighing in a goal and 2 assists.

Definitely another name on the lineup on Monday.

AMR – Sacko

The Malian youngster has assisted most goals (3) in Leeds this term and has appeared in every game thus far.

He is set for his 19th start on Monday.

CF – Wood

Missed the last game due to a hamstring problem but he is expected to return to action on Monday.

Only 3 players have scored more goals than the 25-year-old (11), and he could be adding to that tally against Preston.
