Strongest Arsenal Lineup To Face Southampton In Their Boxing Day Fixture

Predicted Arsenal Lineup vs Southampton

Arsenal will be looking to continue their good form as they travel to the south coast to face Southampton in their Boxing Day fixture. The Gunners had earlier defeated Manchester City with Mesut Ozil again taking centre stage with his great passing as he helped Walcott and Giroud score the goals that defeated the Citizens.

Southampton will be up for a tough fight against the team from London and could be without the services of their regular goalkeeper Stekelenburg. Arsenal will be looking to get some revenge by defeating the Saints, who had won the corresponding fixture last year 2-0 while the Saints are looking for their first win in seven games.

Arsenal should have no injury worries and could lineup with their strongest team to play at St. Mary’s. Here is the predicted lineup for the Gunners.

Petr Cech

The only signing that Arsene made this transfer window but it is paying off as Cech is one of the best goalkeepers in the league and will be looking to keep a clean sheet against the Saints.

Hector Bellerin

Speedy should continue in his role down the right for Arsenal and could provide a great outlet for the attack as well.

Per Mertesacker

Per might not be the fastest defender out there but he is doing a great job and that should continue as he starts against the Saints.

Laurent Koscielny

The French central defender is one of the top players in the league and he cannot be dropped from the team.

Nacho Monreal

The left-back might not be the flashiest player out there but he does do a good job and should keep his place in the starting XI.

Mathieu Flamini

With no real defensive midfielders in the team fit enough, the onus on protecting the defence would fall on the shoulders of Flamini.

Aaron Ramsey

The Welsh midfielder is finally playing a run of games in his favoured position and is thriving; he should play in the middle of the park against Southampton as well.

Theo Walcott

Walcott scored a wonderful goal against City and would be looking to continue that kind of form against Southampton.

Mesut Ozil

Assist extraordinaire, Mesut Ozil cannot do anything wrong at the moment and is having the season of his life. Certainly all his good work this season isn’t going unnoticed and the German would be the danger man for Arsenal.

Joel Campbell

The Costa Rican has gotten a new lease of life at Arsenal and he has been impressive in the few games he has started.

Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman got on the score sheet against City and will be looking for his 11th league goal against Southampton on Saturday.
