Predicted Huddersfield Town Line-up To Face Liverpool In The Premier League

Huddersfield Town will look to add another major scalp to their kitty, when they take on Liverpool in the Premier League, at the Anfield, on Saturday.

The Terriers pulled off a major upset last weekend, defeating title contenders Manchester United 2-1 at home and manager David Wagner will be hoping to pull off something similar against the Reds who haven’t been in the best of forms of late. Huddersfield currently occupy 11th place in the league table, with 12 points from 9 games, and a positive result at Anfield could see them move into the top ten.

Team News

Forward Elias Kachunga is a doubt for the game with a back problem. He joins Philip Billing on the treatment tables, who is unlikely to feature until next year due to an ankle injury. Defender Michael Hefele and midfielder Kasey Palmer are also ruled out due to Achilles and hamstring injuries respectively, while Collin Quaner is also a slight doubt. Jon Gorenc-Stankovic is a long-term absentee.

Here’s how the Terriers might line-up against Jurgen Klopp’s side this weekend:

Manager: David Wagner

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jonas Lossl (GK)

The Polish stopper has been the preferred choice in goal since his arrival in the summer and he has repaid the faith with some strong displays. No changes expected here.

Tommy Smith (RB)

Club captain Tommy Smith is one of the most pivotal players for the Terriers and after a stellar display against Manchester United, he will be raring to go against Liverpool.

Tommy Smith

Christopher Schindler (CB)

A permanent fixture in the backline for the newly promoted side, Christopher Schindler has been very solid so far and will look to keep the threat of Roberto Firmino at a bare minimum.

Mathias Jorgensen (CB)

Schindler should continue to be partnered by Danish centre-half Mathias Jorgesen in the heart of the defence, at Anfield.

Chris Lowe (LB)

Completing the back four for the Yorkshire based outfit should be German left-back Chris Lowe. Will be up against in an in-form Mohamed Salah.

Chris Lowe

Jonathan Hogg (CM)

In the middle of the park, Jonathan Hogg is expected to continue, following his impressive displays since his return from injury.

Danny Williams (CM)

Hogg is likely to be partnered by Danny Williams as the second pivot once again, in order to add that extra defensive steel in the middle.

Tom Ince (RW)

With Elias Kachunga a doubt for the game, there is a good chance that Tom Ince could be asked to play out wide on the right-hand side against his former club.

Tom Ince

Aaron Mooy (CAM)

The Aussie midfielder was exceptional playing in a No.10 role against Manchester United, and scored a goal as well. Should continue in a simila position against Liverpool.

Rajiv van La Parra (LW)

On the left flank we could see 26-year old winger Rajiv van La Parra make his 6th Premier League start of the season, after featuring from the bench last weekend.

Steve Mounie (ST)

The 23-year old Benin forward is fit again and made a substitute appearance against United last weekend. Wagner could hand him a start ahead of Laurent Depoitre to add more dynamism to the forward line.
