Star Duo Gives Injury Boost For Swansea – Strongest 4-3-3 Swansea City Line-Up To Face Manchester United

Swansea City

Predicted Swansea City Lineup To Face Manchester United

Swansea City will resume their battle to survive the drop when they take on Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at the Old Trafford on Sunday.

Paul Clement’s side currently sit at 18th place in the table, 3 points off safety. With just 4 more games left to be played, nothing less than a win would suffice. But with United on a 24-game unbeaten run in the league, it is going to be a difficult prospect for the Swans. They come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Stoke City last weekend and will be hoping for a similar result against an injury-hit Red Devils side.

Team News

Midfielder Leroy Fer, who was taken off against Stoke in the first half, is in line for a return on Sunday and so is marauding full-back Martin Olsson who missed out due to a hamstring problem. Wayne Routledge will not play a part due to a hernia, while captain Jack Cork continues to recover from his ankle problem and may play some part on Sunday. Angel Rangel and Nathan Dyer have been ruled out for the season.

Probable Swansea City XI:

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Paul Clement

Lukasz Fabianski (GK)

The Polish stopper, has on many occasions, been the saviour for Swansea this season. Another heroic display will be needed at the Theatre of Dreams if his side are to come away with a positive result.

Kyle Naughton (RB)

The former Tottenham man has been lacking the consistency in his game but remains the best option at Clement’s disposal. He will start at right-back.

Federico Fernandez (CB)

Apart from giving away a penalty last weekend, Fernandez put in a majestic display against Stoke. He will need to be at the top of his game against the pace and zip of Marcus Rashford.

Alfie Mawson (CB)

A fairly solid defender and a great threat from set-piece situations, Mawson has impressed in his debut season with the Swans and warrants a place at the heart of the defence.

Stephen Kingsley (LB)

Though January signing Martin Olsson is expected to be available for the game, Clement could stick with Kingsley for the clash, so as to avoid rushing the former Norwich City man back into action.

Leon Britton (DM)

The veteran defender did a sterling job against Stoke last weekend. He will be key in thwarting United’s midfield from getting on the front foot.

Gylfi Sigurdsson of Swansea City

Leroy Fer (CM)

The Dutchman is the driving force for the Swansea midfield and should be ready for action after being taken off against Stoke following a collision.

Tom Carroll (CM)

A goal and a strong showing last weekend will have done Carroll a world of good after a few meek displays in recent weeks. He will complete the midfield trio.

Jordan Ayew (RW)

Still looks quite far away from his best, but had a good game last time out. He should keep his place in the line-up ahead of Luciano Narsingh.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (LW)

The best player of the season for Swansea, the Icelandic international has the ability to open up defences and will be a huge threat with his set-piece delivery as well. He will be instrumental in the Swans’ fortunes at the Old Trafford.

Fernando Llorente (ST)

Silenced his critics with a goal last Saturday. Will look to exploit an injury-hit United backline. Expect him to target the not so sturdy Daley Blind.
