Tottenham getting one over Arsenal by signing this Serie A star would show their North London domination

Tottenham opinion: Spurs should beat Arsenal to sign Strakosha

According to the Metro, Tottenham Hotspur will fight with their North London rivals Arsenal for the signature of Lazio’s outstanding goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

The Albanian international has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Serie A since taking the number 1 spot in 2016 and has taking into his stead since. He’s developed under a fantastic manager in Simone Inzaghi and is a typical modern day goalkeeper.

The Albanian always ends up with a great pass success rate. He has a fantastic chip pass, which allows the likes of Sergej Milenkovic-Savic to build up the play and start attacks. He is also a fantastic shot-stopper due to his large frame.

The one area of his game that he needs to work on is pushing saves away to safety, as more often than not he spills a ball back into danger area. However, this is something he can work on because he is still very young.

Mauricio Pochettino, more than ever, will want to improve his squad after coming so close to winning the Champions League.

It was quite a miraculous road to the finals, having their share of luck on the way. Pochettino will want to sense occasions like this more often and refresh the squad in order to have a second chance at the trophy.

He also requires a team that would be a bigger force in smaller cup competitions to finally win that very first trophy that still eludes him. Hugo Lloris is not getting any younger and while he had some outstanding games in the Champions League against the likes of Borrusia Dortmund and Manchester City, he’s also had a fair few howlers.

Mauricio Pochettino

It was by far his most inconsistent season and the France and Spurs captain can’t continue to perform at that level of inconsistency if Spurs are to mount a title challenge

Conclusion

Thomas Strakosha will be a signing that would help Spurs for the best part of the next decade. Their rivals Arsenal already have a first-choice goalkeeper of the right age in Bernd Leno, so it’s important that Spurs get one over the Gunners here.
