Spanish journalist Claims Casillas Is Determined To Move To Manchester United

Real Madrid and Spain legend Iker Casillas is determined to move to Manchester United in the summer claims Spanish sports journalist Enrique Marques

Casillas Is Almost Fit And Ready To Play Again

Casillas has grown in frustration and if he is not given regular chances at Real we may see the long serving goalkeeper leave the Santiago Bernabéu for good. It is now quite some time that Casillas has been left out of the team in favour of Diego Lopez. When former Madrid manager Jose Mourinho started the trend, it was said that it is mainly due to footballing reasons but later it was alleged that it has a personal side to it as well. However, Mourinho’s successor Carlo Ancelotti is also continuing with the same trend and this has really disappointed Casillas.

Spanish journalist Enrique Marques has mentioned this and that Casillas may be heading for English League soon.

Casillas would like a transfer to Manchester United if he stays as reserve goalkeeper. He and his agents have spoken to Alex Ferguson more than once, and former United manager is in contact with the club directors”, Marques stated.  “They are excited about Casillas moving to Manchester and Ferguson has told him that. Casillas has always shown sympathy for United”, he added.

He went on to say that a move may soon be on the cards and that the amicable relation between the two clubs would help the cause.

“Ferguson and Casillas believe the move would be possible thanks to the good relations between the English club and Real”

This information came to light shortly after Vicente Del Bosque revealed in a separate interview with Spanish radio station SER that Casillas had told him “he’s got his future almost solved”.

Previously United’s David De Gea was tipped to head in the other direction but to Barcelona to fill the shoes of Victor Valdes once the veteran keeper moves out the club at the end of this season. Under these circumstances, United would require an experienced and reliable keeper and who better than the Spanish captain himself for the job?

In other news, Ray Wilkins, has stated that he is sceptical about Manchester United’s chances this season and that they have not reinforced their side with the requisite number of players this summer.

“David Moyes will do an excellent job, but I fear for Manchester United this season. Fellaini was a very good buy indeed but I think they needed more players, especially on the European front,” Wilkins said in an interview with talkSPORT.

“Every side in the Champions League has reinforced, and United have to a degree, but not as well as I’d have liked to see them do,” he added.
