Is This How Southampton Will Line Up With Their Four New Signings This Season?

The transfer season is fast approaching its climax and all big clubs have been busy spending and making changes in their lineups. One such club that has seen considerable changes in their line up from the last season is Southampton FC. The Saints made four new signings and have let go some of their key players from last season. There has also been a change in management with the appointment of the French manager Claude Puel. The new manager will certainly bring in new tactics and strategies as compared to the ones followed by Ronald Koeman. Also, with the departure of Mane and Pelle, attacking dynamics will differ for the Saints this time around.

The exits

Southampton have lost the services of some of their key players this summer and a lot of positions had to be refilled. The Saints have had a healthy transfer relationship with the Reds and the player to depart this time was Sadio Mane. Along with this, their 30-year-old striker Graziano Pelle who had a really good Euro cup has moved to China. Also, Victor Wanyama made way to Tottenham Hotspurs and all these positions need a refill before the season starts. Claude Puel had a mammoth task on his shoulders when he arrived at the club and was right at it.

The entrants

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

The Saints have brought the 20-year-old Danish sensation Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich. The Dane plays at the defensive midfield position and was considered by many to be the next Xabi Alonso. However, at the German club, he did not get many opportunities and a move was looking on the cards this time around. Hojbjerg will look to replace Wanyama at the defensive midfield position and should be the first choice player.

Jeremy Pied

The new right back who arrives from French side Nice is looking set to start at the right back position or as an alternate option for the Saints. The full-back was impressive during his last season with Nice as he helped his team to keep 13 clean sheets. He looks an interesting prospect for Southampton FC.

Nathan Redmond

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joins the Saints from Norwich City as a possible replacement for Sadio Mane who departed to Anfield. Redmond signed a 5 years deal with the Saints and this move comes as a major boost in the youngster’s career.
